March - 1938

1, Tuesday - Raining today, but lovely. Gee! But I'm busy. Sorority meeting at 7 o'clock. Erl Lene and I had a hectic time "and how".

2, Wednesday - Hostess at Home Ec. Club at 3:30 didn't get home until 6 o'clock this evening. Called George, inviting him to the Panhelenic dance Mar. 11, 1938.

3, Thursday - Worked all afternoon. Plenty tired. Studied until 10 o'clock. Elsie called. Went up to the hospital about 5:30.

4, Friday - Up early this morning. Tom Gaden came by wanting me to go home, can't go, and don't know when I'll get to go. Basketball game tonite, Rangers - 48, Baptist U. - 46.

5, Saturday - Washed today also cleaned house, and did the ironing tonite, got through about 10:30. Plenty tired. Headache.

6, Sunday - Church and Sunday school. Sudie Fae and Elsie came over this evening and played monopoly. Sudie Fae and I went to show. "Big Broadcast, 1938." Not any good.

7, Monday - Brought Naomi home today. Stanley cryed about all night. Started getting up 30 minutes earlier. What a day. Naomi's birthday, 1910.

8, Tuesday - Mrs. Warren came up and bathed the baby. I washed this afternoon. Started raining about 12:30 noon. Sorority meeting.

9, Wednesday - Still cloudy today. Washed again today, but couldn't hang anything out. Wrote to Eithel and Ray. Surely would like to see them.

10, Thursday - Assembly by some guy that stressed the tax system of Oklahoma. Washed and ironed. Pledged 5 new girls in sorority - Maxine [?], Barbara Hedges, Everett [?], Beth Lou [?], Lodine E.

11, Friday - Panhelenic party tonite. Went with Elsie and her boy fiend. Date with Ben Harrover. Really had a swell time. Washed and ironed.

12, Saturday - Washed and Ironed. What a lovely day. Stanley is awful cross. Eithel called about me moving. Guess I will if possible.

13, Sunday - Worked all morning. Erl Lene, Elsie and Elsie Fae came down. Went to League. Later to the Ark. No studying again tonite.

14, Monday - Not a very good day. Washed and Ironed. Letter from Eithel. Went to a party at Mrs. Shirey's. Got home about 10 o'clock. Studied till twelve. Am I ever tired.

15, Tuesday - Sorority meeting but I didn't go. Went to the library until 9 o'clock. Rather dusty and windy outside.

16, Wednesday - Went to the show with James Crutchfeld. Saw "Angel". Pretty Good.

17, Thursday - Stayed home and studied tonight. Mrs. Warrick called asking me to work in the store. Am I happy???

18, Friday - Went down to work about 2 o'clock. Starting out with $5 a wk, 5% commission on all over 50. Working from 1 o'clock til 6. Received my first flower from boy. Went to Wrangler party with Othal Bronk.

19, Saturday - Alvin and Naomi went to Enid. Worked from 12:30 to 10:30 really tired. Luella set my hair. Called Eithel.

20, Sunday - Cleaned house and washed this morning. Eithel Ray, Y'Lona Jean and Ken Brady came up. I moved to Mrs. Plooms at 1014 fifth. Date with Harrover to show, "Yank at Oxford."

21, Monday - Worked until 6:30, came home then went to a dinner at the Legion Hall with Ben Harrover. Bonnie and I had the swellest time.

22, Tuesday - Sorority meeting. Ben Harover walked home with me. Home early. Studied, and wrote some letters. Work is swell. So is Light housekeeping.

23, Wednesday - Got a new blue dress today. It is really cute for work. James Crutchfield called this evening wanting a date. Not going. Have to study.

24, Thursday - Cut class today. Wish I could hear from home. Worked until almost seven o'clock tonight. Went to the play.

25, Friday - Not a very good day at the store, but was pretty busy in the afternoon. Went to the library and studied. Didn't go to Sorority party.

26, Saturday - Zella [younger sister,. 1919. written at top of page.]. Cleaned my room. Rained about all day. Went downtown and ordered my groceries. Worked until about 11:30 tonite. Really tired.

27, Sunday - Zella [younger sister,. 1919. written note at top of page. ??]. Supposed to go on a field trip. Too Rainy. Didn't get up until 10 o'clock. Erl Lene, Elsie, Sudie Fae came up. I went to the show with Kenneth Wilson. "Snowhite and the Seven Dwarfs."

28, Monday - Still raining. Got some white oxfords today. Studied until 10:30. Didn't go any place. Worked on my bird book.

29, Tuesday - Sorority meeting. Came home early and studied. Also worked on Bird Book. Started getting ready for Frances Perkins, Sec. of Labor.

30, Wednesday - Really worked this afternoon. Got home about 7 o'clock. Went to the show with Ben Harrover. Kenneth Wilson called wanting a date.

31, Thursday - Set tables in library for 350 people, for lunch tomorrow. Worked at the store until almost 8 sending out statements, filing, charges.
