June - 1938

Up to now Vada is dating Kenneth Wilson, whom I'm told worked for the bank. I'm not sure which bank in Alva, OK. Vada is just starting Summer School, reluctantly and has moved to a house/apt at 717 Locust. Vada seems a bit homesick for the family in Seiling. She is working, studying, and seems tired of school. I wonder whatever happened with George Wright and Vada. If anyone out there as any clue, please let me know. Thanks for any support and knowledge that you can share with me.)
1, Wednesday - First day of school in summer term. Guess I'll have to go now.

2, Thursday - Study, study, study. More work. Maxine and I went to the library. I didn't have any of my books yet..

3, Friday - Don Wilton wanted a date tonight. Too tired to go anywhere. Maxine went home this weekend.

4, Saturday - Went to work at 11:00. Got my material for sewing class. Maybelle and Myran brought me home from work. Don't feel to good.

5, Sunday - Got up rather late. Don't have anything to do. Date with Bill. Bonnie and Tim and I went to Waynoka to the show.

6, Monday - Back to school and work. Went to the Library and studied. Saw Wanda. Kay, Mr. & Mrs. Jaquith were up today.

7, Tuesday - Nervous sick headache. Wish I could get rid of it. I'm so damed tired all the time. Wish I wasn't in school.

8, Wednesday - Would like to get a letter from the folks. Guess I'll have to write to them. Still have that damned headache.

9, Thursday - Date with Kenneth. Rode around all evening. Went over to Alvin and Naomi's. They were down to Bob's. Taking him to hospital.

10, Friday - I'm really glad this is Friday. Going to sleep in the morning. Maxine and I went to the show . "Gold Is Where You Find It." Faye set my hair.

11, Saturday - Really sick this morning. Didn't sleep any last night. The first time I've had to work when I was ill. Sick at the stomach. Diarhea, sick headache.

12, Sunday - Maxine got up sick this morning. Same thing I had. I feel a little better this morning.

13, Monday - Library tonight and studied. Really have my hands full.

14, Tuesday - Got a letter from Eithel. Wanda and I are planning on going home this weekend.

15, Wednesday - Got my material for cow girl suit. Went up to Alvin's and Naomi's this evening. Library to study.

16, Thursday - Got my suit finished. Ate dinner at Alvin's. [48 years later Gene dies, 16 June, 1986.]

17, Friday - Kenneth called this evening. Didn't go with him. Maxine and I went to the library. Study all the time.

18, Saturday - Had a pretty good day. Wanda and I started home about 11 o'clock. Freedom dance. States Hotel in Woodward. Rain at Buffalo. "What a day and Night."

19, Sunday - Got home at 6 o'clock this morning. Rained this morning so they couldn't harvest. Wanda and I came back by Woodward. Noble and L. O. brought us to Alva.

20, Monday - Will I ever get over being so damned sleepy. Had to go to the assembly. Marionettes was really cute.

21, Tuesday - Jo, Maxine and I went to assembly at the college at 8:30, Cincinatti Trio. Fae set my hair, braids. Really Cool.

22, Wednesday - Shower for Sudie Faye tonight. Don't think I'll go. Rather listen to the fight. Lewis & Schmelling. Hope Brownie gets his!?.

23, Thursday - The fight didn't last long. Only two minutes and 3 seconds. Schmeling went down. Sewed until 10 o'clock.

24, Friday - Gee, but I'd like to hear from home. Guess maybe Ihad better write. Wanda called this evening.

25, Saturday - Worked pretty hard. Pat Horner and I went to the dance at Freedom. Had a pretty nice time. Plenty tired.

26, Sunday - Sewed on sun suit and dress. Finished making those button holes this evening.

27, Monday - Paid up my bills. Jo and I bought some groceries. Had to buy another pair of hose tonite.

28, Tuesday - Sorority meeting, but I didn't go. Too much studying to do. Cut out my housework tonite. Maxine and Jo went to the carnival.

29, Wednesday - Be glad when this wearing of cowboy stuff is over. It's plenty hot. Sure would like to hear from Eithel.

30, Thursday - Sorority meeting tonight. Didn't go. I had to fix my hair. Studied a while this evening.
