Seiling High Achool Report Card for Vada Paris...
Back in my mother's high school days getting a high school diploma was
similar to getting a college degree now days. Not every town, community
had high schools. That is the case with Orion and Chester, Oklahoma where
my mother grew up with eight other siblings.
If you wanted to extend your education to high school, you would find room
and board with another family in the nearest town that had a high school
facility. Sometimes working off the room and board by helping around the
house, farm anyway you could.
My mother moved from Orion and Chester, Oklahoma communities to live with
the W. R. Jacquith family of Seiling, Oklahoma. Helping take care of the
children, etc...
When Vada Paris graduated from Seiling High School (12th grade) the year
was 1936. The photo up in the upper left corner is her graduation photo.
This
is Vada's report card for the year beginning September 2, 1935 and Ending
May 15, 1936. Some of the classes that she took were English III (85-final
grade); Com. Law (91 final grade); Pub. Speaking (91 final
grade) and Algebra & Solid Geom. (93 final grade). Click
