Once more we are called upon to chronicle the death of a dear parent -
our father passed away early Sunday morning at the rip old age of 92 yrs.,
5 months, 22 days. He spent the last few weeks of his life at our home in
Coyle, coming here from Wichita, Kansas, where he had lived the past couple
of years with his daughter.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church,
by Rev. J. W. Lanham pastor. And interment made in the Coyle cemetery beside
his wife.
Timothy Wandell was born in Alleghany County, New York, Feb. 26, 1826,
died at Coyle, Okla., Aug. 18, 1918.
He moved in the early fifties to Iowa where he married Mrs. Carrie Brown,
a widow with one daughter, now Mrs. Carrie Fansler, of Meridian, Christmas
day 1865. To this union five children were born, one dieing in infancy;
the four surviving children are: C.A. Wandell, Lenora, Kansas, Mrs. G.L.
Garner, Wichita, Kansas, Timothy Wandell, Millwood, Oregon, and C.F. Wandell
of Coyle.
Father Wandell was one of the pioneer settlers of Phillips County, Kansas,
moving there in the early seventies and remaining most of the time until
his family was grown.
During a short residence in Arkansas about 26 years ago, he was converted
and became a member of the Baptist church, remaining a true and faithful
Christian until the end.
Several months ago he fell and fractured his hip, and has since been bedfast.
At times his suffering was intense but he was always patient and uncomplaining,
only at times expressing a desire to be with his wife who preceded him in
death nearly three years ago.
We wish to thank the friends and neighbors for their kind sympathy and
assistance during our sorrow and also for the beautiful flowers sent.
