The book is "Sawmill: the story of cutting the last great virgin forest east of the Rockies" by Kenneth L. Smith. It was published by the University of Arkansas Press in 1986, but has been reprinted since. Mostly on Arkansas, but some Oklahoma. Also John Morris's "Ghost Towns of Oklahoma" has little info too.
