Howdy folks! Well, it seems like fall here. After the 100+ degree days of earlier weeks we not have temperatures in the low 60s and upper 50s with some drizzle and rain. The rain is very welcome, every little bit helps. There are some soybeans near my farm that are about waist high. If they put on beans, it should be a bumper crop for that farmer. We were just up into North Dakota and Montana to a reunion of all us old B-52 bomber crews, maintenance and administrators. It was nice for a day or two then got hot up there. Their wheat harvest was in full swing. Also, there was evidence of other crops: canola and flax. Saw a new JD pull-type combine thrashing wheat from wind-rows. Drove 3400 miles and paid a wide range of prices for gasoline. G'day Mates!

One of my fondest memories of growing up in Alva was the manger scene in the canyon bordering 14th street. Seems like each year a new figurine was added and it was always fun to figure out which one was new. Does anyone know who was responsible for this scene? Where is it now? Is it still in use? Also, does anyone know the source of the green (possibly wooden) wreaths that light up red and green at night that so many Alva residents have on display outside their homes? If so, where can I buy one? -Scott :)

I wish to thank you for all the information about Alva, Ok. My brother an I have researched the Rauh family from Germany to Missouri to Woods County (Alva) and met many "new" relatives in the process. Sept 8-9, 2007 we will celebrate with a family reunion of Rauh's from coast to coast. What an adventure it has been! We are starting a "Rauh Family Website"; if any are interested, please go to rauhfamily.com. In September, "Rauh: Our Great Heritage" will be available to purchase as will a documentary DVD.

Linda, I am wondering how many subscribers you have that are from my hometown of Goltry. We have our high school alumni gathering on the Saturday night of April 17th. I would be glad to hear from any graduates of Goltry High School that are subscribers of "The Okie Legacy" eZine. Cheers! Jim Bradley, Class of 1954
