The 1941 era brings us to a time when young couples were scurrying to the altar before young servicemen were sent off overseas to fight in WWII. Some other young men were working on their Master degrees at Oklahoma Agricultural & Mechanical College in Stillwater. One such young man was Wm. Hankins Hughes that wrote his thesis on Old Fort Supply.

Old Fort Supply Cemetery & Camp

Fort Supply, Oklahoma - Old Fort Supply Cemetery -- "Old Fort Supply Cemetery on US 270 at East side of Fort Supply, Woodward County, Oklahoma. Bodies of old soldiers formerly buried here were moved to Leavenworth, Kansas. The fort was officially closed in 1895 and was placed in the custody of the Department of the Interior. It was later ceded to the state of Oklahoma for use as a mental hospital. The first patients, several hundred, arrived in Tangier by train in 1908 and were transported by car to the hospital."
