Duchess of Weaselskin

Bayfield, Colorado - Hello, Doli! AND . . . Goodbye, Doli! It was so nice seeing you once again for a short while! Doli (photo on the left) is our two year old paint filly in NW Oklahoma.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, David (photo on the right)! Hope you feel like a Captain of your Ship on this day in history!

It's good to hear that Northwest Oklahoma has gotten some measurable, slow, soaking rain. We have been told that Freedom had received 1.02 inches, Alva 1.45 inches and Cherokee with 1.37 inches since Saturday morning and it was still raining in Cherokee on Sunday. Hope you get some more of that wet stuff again! We hear tell that Southwest Oklahoma had some flood warnings out this last weekend.

It was a Nice slow soaking rain with no runoff because it was all soaking in. Others reported "Nice slow soaking rain" with 2 inches in their rain gauges and cooling things down.

It was sunny, high 60's degrees with a breeze while NW Okie and friends were getting involved on the Maine Street of Durango, Colorado this Monday afternoon. We joined the 99% Mob to "Occupy Wall Street." They were supported by lots of "horn honks" from passer-bys! Does this crowd look rowdy? We did get lots of "honks for support!" Where is the Jobs, Boehner?

NW Okie's Corner

Bayfield, Colorado - We are running late this evening, because we were peacefully getting involved with others on the Main Street of Durango, Colorado this afternoon, as Duchess of Weaselskin wrote about above. It felt good!

We received an email this week from Earnest Taylor, who was born in the logging and saw mill town of Pine Valley, Oklahoma. Earnest read with interest the memory of Pine Valley, Oklahoma written by Francis L. (Frank) Powell. Earnest was wondering if there are any other articles about this saw mill town and any photos of the mill and town. If so, leave a comment below and/or Email Earnest Taylor (earnestaylor@yahoo.com) concerning Pine Valley, Oklahoma. Thanks!

This concerns the Gray-Mitchell Family Reunion. Edwin Shaw (Email: edelspmo@yahoo.com) says, "Hi! I was talking to my Aunt Grace Smith about the Gray/Mitchell reunions. She says she goes almost every year. I had seen an article about the 2005 reunion that mentioned my grandma Martha Lela Mitchell as well as Grace and her sister Martha Lytle (now deceased). My mother Nellie L (Reedy) Shaw at 95 (Nov 26) is the oldest of the six surviving siblings (out of 18)."

OkieLegacy, Vol. 6, Iss. 45, 2004-11-13, Feature #5456 Renee R. Vorbach comments, "I am the granddaughter of James Earle and Calla Lilly Magill and daughter of Jeanne Magill (Relyea) her daughter. Looking for information about my family history. I do know that my great grandmother, Calla's mother, was a full-blood Cherokee named Daisy, but not too much more. I have many of Calla's paintings and those done by my mother, also an outstanding artist." View/Write Comments (count 0)   |   Receive updates (0 subscribers)  |   Unsubscribe

Ghostly Spirits of Alva's Old Hospital

Alva, Oklahoma - This Ghostly tale come to us from another Alva, Oklahoma citizen that experienced a ghostly encounter while walking by the old Alva General Hospital on the South end of 14th Street.

The comment was made in the OkieLegacy Ezine, Vol. 9, Iss. 42, 2007-10-20, Feature #3066 -- "Hi! I'm a small town Alva, Oklahoma girl myself. My name is Melissa. This takes place on March 17, 2008 my ex-boyfriend Travis and I were walking home from fishing at the park pond. We decided to walk up to Mill Street so we could just walk down to 8th st. We had walked down past the old hospital.

"I had looked back behind me when I had started hearing some one say my name so I looked around and saw no one but Travis. I told him that if he was calling my name to stop it. He had told me that he was not saying my name at all. But when he was talking to me I was looking back behind me.

"When I had seen some spooky glows from the old hospital. It had looked like a littele girl looking out the front door of the hospital. But it was a weird glow of green. I told him about it and he had taken some pictures of the hospital through his cell phone. When we had got home we went back through those pictures and saw not just one green glow but at almost all of the windows had the same green glow to then.

"This has got me a little bit more serious about wanting to do it this year. To see if I find another part of this story. If any of my family might have died there. All that I do know is that my dad Bob Beason was born there back in 1954. In the 2 story of the hospital." ~ Melissa Beason View/Write Comments (count 0)   |   Receive updates (0 subscribers)  |   Unsubscribe
