Duchess Snowy Domain
Sadie and I have been staying inside during our snow storm here in the San Juan mountains of SW Colorado. I hate getting my pug paws in that cold, wet whtie stuff.
That NW Okie … She knows I hate to put my pug paws in the snow! AND … especially when it is deeper than my "Mae West" chest. She just physically pushed me off the porch this afternoon, but at least she pushed the Sadie Pug off first and let her make a path for this Duchess Pug.
Here is a Short Video of this Duchess Pug pushed out into the deep snow this afternoon. Thank goodness it wasn't 13 inches ... YET!
We awoke on this Monday morning to 3-inches of snow and it has been snowing all day. By this evening our snow gauge was reaching 12-inches and they say we could expect another foot or so tomorrow.
AND … Tomorrow may bring some snow, sleet and ice to Northwest Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle on Tuesday. Someone in NW Oklahoma said, "We are suppose to get sleet and freezing drizzle tonight, but the snow is to go north of us. It is hard to find out what the roads east of Trinidad and Raton are doing."
This photo is just one page out of the '68 Ranger yearbook. Let us take you back to 1968, Northwestern State College (now NWOSU), in Alva, Oklahoma, when Dr. Manoucher Vahdat was the political science professor. You do remember Northwestern's Dr. Vahdat, don't you? Maybe some of those listed in the photo might jog some other memories!
The Political Science Forum back then, as it says on the page, "Various significant discussions, most of them open to the public, were sponsored by the Political Science Forum through the year as it furthered its purpose of providing a medium for the consideration of pertinent issues. Membership in the forums were open to all students with interest in political systems and problems at all levels of the government."
The membership in the political Science forum included, Anthony Kotich, Adair Brown, DAvid Dercher, Joseph M. LaPilusa, Barry P. Squitieri, Ardeshir Azodi, Ray Talbott, Rod Avery, Diana Rock, Marcia matkin, Amber McGill, Ivan Orton, Jim Ybarra, Vincent Tagliareni, Larry Long, Rolla Weber, Randy Murrow, Don Garrett, Michael Tretola, Philip Davis with Dr. Vahdat as Sponsor.
The Political Science Forums, like I said earlier, were open to the public. 1968 was another year of political unrest and a time of the Vietnam Ware.
This photo on the left shows one of those open forums on NSC campus in 1968. The caption under the photo reads, "A Political symposium virtually filled the Science Amphitheater as one program sponsored by the Political Science Forum. Representing Democratic viewpoints were Adair Brown, Larry Long and Amber McGill. Dr. Manoucher Vahdat, forum sponsor, was moderator. On the Republican side were Rod Avery, Randy Murrow and Don Garrett."

Blue Belle Saloon, Guthrie, OK
Homer sent us this web link concerning the Blue Belle Saloon, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The website says, "The town of Guthrie, Oklahoma holds many historical legends and is a vivid reminder of a past time and place that will never be forgotten. Landmark buildings still remain, some tarnished by age and others barely affected. It is a town that speaks to those who listen and those who are willing to learn about its past secrets."

The History of Eliza Warwick
There is a book out there published in the eighteenth century in two volumes, I believe, that this NW Okie would love to find a copy for her genealogy book collections. It would make a great christmas present! Hint! Hint!
It is The History of Eliza Warwick. I found this information online and download a copy of a pdf file, but it is not quite the same as having the book itself.
Here is what I found, "In two volumes ... Published in 1778, printed for S. Price, W. Whitestone, R. Fitzsimmons, D. Chamberlaine, J. Sheppard, [and 17 others in Dublin] Eighteenth Century -- reel 11347, no. 04. Pagination: 2v. ; BUY Not available for this book. BORROW Not available for this book. BROWSE Not available for this book. Data comes from Amazon, Library of Congress, and users like you."
the reason this NW Okie is interested, is because it may help us fill in some pieces of the puzzle to our William Warwick of Virginia, who returned to England (if that is what happened to him).
Steve sent us this humorous "Baked Stuffed Chicken" recipe for all those bad chickens that get their necks wrung. It goes something like this and similar to a recipe that this NW Okie's Auntie Jim used for a BAked Turkey:
Baked Stuffed Chicken -- 6-7 lb. chicken, 1 cup melted butter, 1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge farm is good.), 1 cup uncooked popcorn (orville redenbacher is low fat), salt/pepper to taste.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush chicken well with melted butter, salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven. Listen for the popping sounds.
