Mailbag & Links.... America Eagle's Animated Tears... "I received this from a friend and felt that it needed forwarding. We all need a little extra support now. It is reassuring to know that America has friends throughout the world." [click on link to see the photo.] Italy News - September 19th, 2001... Vice Premier Reveals Threats Directed at American President During G8 -- "Deputy prime minister Gianfranco Fini declared at the late-night talk show with Maurizio Costanzo yesterday that Italian intelligence service had informed the government of a possible assassination attempt on American president George W. Bush during the recent G8 summit. The threat had included the information that a civil airplane might be used for the attack. This explained the closing of Genoa's airspace and the placement of a surface-to-air missile launchers near the Genoa air terminals said Mr. Fini. He added that those who ridiculed the actions at the time, shrugging it off as overkill, should reconsider their opinion, pointing at the recent terrorist attacks on several United States cities where four airplanes hijacked from regular airline flights were deployed as suicide bombers." Wonders of the World... "A group of geography students studied the Seven Wonders of the World. At the end of that section, the students were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following got the most votes: 1. Egypt's Great Pyramids, 2. Taj Mahal, 3. Grand Canyon, 4. Panama Canal, 5. Empire State Building, 6. St. Peter's Basilica, 7. China's Great Wall. While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student, a quiet girl, hadn't turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The quiet girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many." The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help." The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the Seven Wonders of the World are: 1. to touch, 2. to taste, 3. to see, 4. to hear." She hesitated a little, and then said, "5. to run, 6. to laugh, 7. and to love." It is far too easy for us to look at the exploits of man and refer to them as "wonders," while we overlook all God has done, regarding them as merely "ordinary." May you be reminded today of those things which are truly wondrous." Does anyone know about... The saloon on the north side of the square in Alva that was run by Tom Hess? The year would have been about 1893. It was located on the westside of the Miller Furniture store on the north side of the square in Alva, Oklahoma. It was a saloon run by Tom Hess. Virus Alert... "Hi ya! A friend, sent me these URLs this morning and I'm just passing them on to you for your own information. God Bless! The following is a CNN article about a new virus they just detected. NO... I'm not sending you a joke! The following is where you can go to download a patch to fix/prevent this on your computer. I-Worm/Nimda... A new mass mailing virus is In the Wild - I-Worm/Nimda. It Spreads as attached file readme.exe and is also able to use for its spreading similiar trick as CodeRed worm. Update for AVG Anti-Virus System will be available on our web pages. -- GRISOFT Inc., Developers of AVG Anti-Virus System "One Last Question Please... NOW that the President has called us to pray; now that theCongress has called us to pray; now that our Governor has called us to pray; now that the City Mayor has called us to pray; now that the "liberal" media and most other branches of our American society have called us to pray... AND... NOW that our churches are assembling in special prayer.. "Honorable" Justices of the Supreme Court, I have only one question... Would it be okay to pray in our schools???" "Linda, No bother at all. Good to hear from you any day of the week. You sound like me. <g> Stickler for details. You may have been 'sleepy-eyed' when you wrote it and I was very likely half asleep when I read it. I missed the error. <g> Any how... I enjoyed your "Special" newsletter very much. So far, I have not came across anyone "yet", that I know, who was killed or is missing. I do know that many, many people from the DE, PA, NJ area were killed or are missing. My heart aches and my prayers go out to all who were caught in this terrible, terrible, tragedy. Take care, Keep up the good work." -- Reader from Delaware "Don't you ever worry... over minor things. Your ezine is one of the best online anywhere. Your patriotism is perfect." No misinterpretation Taken... "I hope no one misinterpreted my writing about that New Yorkers were becoming more like us. Their terrible ordeal affects all of us Americans, and while we resolve to punish all those responsible, we need to become a more friendly nation. Here in Topeka, we have a '"Hate Group.' Fred Phelps, and his church band of family, that protest against Gays. They fly the American Flag upside down! He states that 'God hates America!' Now, people are gathering on the streets where he has carried filthly signs -- with their own signs -- 'Not Today, Fred' & 'God Bless America.' Cars drive by with horns honking, and even stopping to give money for worthy causes, like our American Red Cross, and the Salvation Army! Our people will not continue to tolerate people that hate. We must change to become a more loving & caring nation. We need for all of our leaders to quit be so hyper-critical of the those that are not of their 'Party' -- or, their thinking. We need to visit our own thinking, and correct our own prejudices. Now, I will get off my soap box and say, thanks for your wonderful newsgram! You are doing a postive thing that is a example of what I was trying to say! Fondest Regards." -- A.T. "Linda... Your newsletter urges healing instead of revenge and I want to thank you very much for that. I would like to put your little burning candle in my page. Sure would look cool up there for the whole world to see. Thanks & bless you, woman. There is something I will send you tomorrow from Abe Lincoln papers that I hope you will consider putting in your newsletter if it doesn't come out too long." -- ~~eric~~ Concerning Tax Rebates... "While we have not yet received our tax rebate, my family made a decision that since the money being returned was money which we did not have it would not be missed. We feel so blessed for the abundance we have, so we have made a donation to the Red Cross for the amount of tax rebate we are supposed to be receiving. It can be used to a much more beneficial purpose than anything we could have planned for it." "Linda... This may be available on other sites, but this can be downloaded at www.drlaura.com ... God Bless The U.S.A., a Song for our Country. Moments after the collapse of the World Trade Center buildings, as a tribute to the victims and their families and this great nation, Tim Pilcher and Bryce Johnson wrote this stirring rendition of Lee Greenwoods original God Bless the USA. Be proud to be an American." Oakie's

Check out the other project that I've been volunteering my time with lately. It concerns the American Flyers Memorial Park website. They needed a webmaster... So I donated my time and talents to the cause. If you are in Southern Oklahoma, down around Gene Autry & Ardmore, the American Flyers Memorial Park is located at the entrance of the Ardmore airbase. Check out the website for more information. Thanks! You can also view The OkieLegacy online. |
