Essemar Horse Farm Updates...

3 July 2001, Oakie's MoonAs I found myself in northwestern Oklahoma this week before the 4th, I caught this recednt snapshot of one of my horses that makes up the Essemar (SMR) Horse Farm. This happens to be Oakie's Moon... For those of you who have just come in, Moon was my mares first colt in 2000. When he was born he was black with a star on the forehead and three-white socks. Now.... You can see some of his shining characteristics glowing on this 3rd of July 2001.

Oakie's NW Corner...

Keeping Cool on the 4th, Bricktown, OKCHow Hot Is It?... The hot, dry Summer of July is finally here and it's so hot that it saps the energy out of your body instantly. Some individuals were spotted at this cooling-off spot in Bricktown in OKC on the evening of the 4th of July 2001.

The Crowd, Dacoma Town Park, July 3, 2001Meanwhile... Let's go back to the 3rd of July Blowout in Dacoma, in northwest Oklahoma. The crowd started to gather and pack the streets of this small, rural town on the evening of 3 July 2001. It was as though a new spark of life had invaded this small town and it's park in NW Oklahoma. Crowds of NW Oklahomans came from surrounding towns (young & old alike) spreading their blankets and lawn chairs around the edge of the park.

Dacoma's 3rd of July Blowout

Thanks goes to... the Dacoma Firefighters & their families for sponsoring a fantastic 3rd of July Blowout in style at Dacoma's Town Park just after 10:00pm. The Dacoma FireFighters are... Jay Leeper, Chief; Joel Shoulders, Assistant Chief; Jeremy Bays; Chad Budy; Kenneth Byrd; Randall Herren; Lee Leeper; Larry Leslie; Jim Mahieu; Mike Maul/ Dan Sherrell; and Mark Williams.

Myriad Gardens, OKC, July 4th, 2001Myriad Gardens, OKC... The red, white and blue of the Myriad Gardens fountain could be seen as spectators gathered in the Myriad Gardens downtown park for Oklahoma City's evening of free fireworks. The gardens were lined with a carpet of lawn chairs and blankets filled with family and friends to celebrate their independence in central Oklahoma.

4 July 2001, Myriad Gardens, OKC

You really needed a movie camera to get the full fantastic finale of the fireworks display in OKC. BUT... I did get a few snapshots of the some of the fireworks as they lit up the dark skies in downtown OKC. The finale was a breathtaking sky of sparkling colors that lighted the evening skies as the audience applauded and patriotic music filled the air..

This was our fourth year that we've spent viewing the free fireworks in downtown Oklahoma City. When we started the trees were still young, small and the crowd was not so thick. Each year seems to bring more growth to the Gardens and OKC. You can always catch the Bricktown fireworks a few minutes after the Myriad Garden fireworks as you are walking down the blocked-off streets towards the parking garages. All in All... Everything was perfect!

"I have written the book, Watson Is Where It Wuz, and am seeking comments or suggestions as to your thoughts on this small part of the book. These comments will be of great help me as I put the final touches to the sequel that is now being put together. Obviously this will not improve the one that is in print but it could be very useful in the one coming out of the typewriter, or computer, now. There are three sample writings at the my web site. I thank you in advance for your time and look forward to receiving your comments." -- Bill Covey, author of Watson Is Where It Wuz, Home of Ol' Tubby Joe Stottlemeyer

California Vacation.... "Our California Adventure Page!" -- Pam

"THE TRUTH ABOUT LIFE....
1. Birds of a feather flock together and crap on your car.

2. There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.

3. When I'm feeling down, I like to whistle. It makes the neighbor's dog run to the end of his chain and gag himself.

4. If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

5. Don't assume malice for what stupidity can explain.

6. A penny saved is a government oversight.

7. The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing in the right place but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

8. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat are really good friends.

9. The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.

10. He who hesitates is probably right.

11. If you think there is good in everybody, you haven't met everybody.

12. If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.

13. The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble."
