Slow, Savour & Enjoy!

"The trail is the thing, not the end of the trail. Travel too fast and you miss all that you were traveling for." - Louis L'Amour, 'Ride The Dark Trail'.  I found this quote traveling through the zillions of web pages out there.  This One Is For You!

So... Maybe in other words...   It's all in the journey!  Slow-down, Savour and Enjoy all the experiences of your life for what they can teach you.  If you speed towards the destination loosing sight of all the experiences you have accumulated along the way, then don't you miss the most important part of the journey.  What do you think?

My older sister (Dynamite DoRight) and other friends I've met out there have always said something similar to the following, "Today is a present!  Enjoy it for all you can!  Learn something new each day and be open to constructive, positive growth!"

Now we are getting down to what I have been meaning to do for a long time.  That is to tell you, "Thanks!  Thanks for your feedback, support and thoughtfulness that you have shared!"

I have big things planned for on down the road, but for now let us savour the presents we give to each other today.  As for those things down the road, some of you will learn them as I do... AND... Some of my closest friends out there have an inkling as to the destination this path will lead us.  Relax and enjoy the little things around you every single day.  They can teach you lots of things about yourself and others.

I always love hearing from old school classmates.  A few days ago I heard from a fellow '66 Alva HS Goldbug who had looked me up on Classmates.com.  They traveled over to my "Oakie's Heart to Heart" and emailed me the following message which has been edited for this publication, "We were in Alva High together (Class of '66)...  Anyway, thought I'd write and say 'hello'... AHS seems a very long while back... but when I dug out all the old yearbooks, many great memories came back.  I enjoyed reading your work online... You're a good story teller!  Hope you're doing well!"

As to looking back at old high school yearbooks, have you ever noticed how much some of us change; some stay the same; but most change and mature like fine wine.  It is kind of like fine-aged wine! The longer it is able to experience and grow... The better the vintage.

Anyway, thanks to all of you who have sent me feedback and encouragements along our "Heart to Heart Journey."  Thanks! This one is for you!

"Oakie -- I have to admit, this is pretty far off the wall, but I need to track down an individual from Alva, OK who was riding bulls at the 5-state fair in Liberal, KS back in August.  I know the chance of you knowing him is slim, but I figured it was worth a try.  His name, according to my notes is Joe Pierce, but the first name could be off a little.  I need to contact him regarding a model release as I'd like to submit a photo of him to the Kansas Travel and Tourism, and they require model releases.  I've attached a scan of the photo I'd like to submit, if I can get a model release.  Thanks a ton.  Happy Trails"  -- Flatlander, mailto:flatlander@rainbowtel.net || librodeo3.jpg

"Linda, All the places you mentioned in Colorado are so familiar to us!   We have family that live in Norwood.  Telluride is their County Seat.  We have been going out there for 30 years.   When we first went to Telluride it was a sleepy little mining town that you couldn't give away!!!!     Now look at it!!  Hope you visited Mountain Village up on the mountain where the rich and famous live!"

"Thanks for all the great pictures and links that you sent along in last weeks  issue of H&H.  I wish we had had these when we made our trek.  But, we've got them now and the next time we head out with camera, we're going to take along some detailed maps and mark on the maps where each picture was taken.  I especially loved the following links..." wondersofthewest.com/areas/area_co_sw/sjs_rid2tel.html

CLICK HERE - Do you know Who?"Just found your site to my great surprise.  Saw pictures and some of relatives listed and the picture posted may be Ann (Annies) Hurt's spouse Joseph Hurt. My Great-Grandparents were Joseph Poskocil and Anna Sahulka.  Marriage record did spell Poskocil as POSCOCHIL.  Annie's 1st-husband was Joseph Hurt.  Their children: Bessie, Rudolph,  Minnie, Edward.  Don't know what happened to 1st-husband Joseph Hurt.  Any info would be appreciated.  Bessie to my understanding married and moved to Los Angeles, California area. Rudolph (went by Rolf) married Rose and farmed near Ashton. Minnie married James Jelineck (also at Howard Co records) lived in Allience.  Edward married Anna Jerabek (she just recently past away at age over 100 years old). Any more info on any of these relatives is also appreciated.  Minnie had one son and one daughter.  Edward had children (? two sons and two daughters).  Daniel would be the one that probably remembers my family the most.  Anna and Joseph Poskocil had two children, they moved to Sherman Co where he built their home.  Their children Caroline A Poskocil and Theophil Poskocil. (Theophil's name is spelled Poskochil on his headstone at St Francis Cemetery at Ashton........ where Anna and Joseph Poskocil were buried also in unmarked graves.  Would appreciate any further info as if anyone has more recollections of them/or pictures).  Will share any more that I know or what mom (who is the only child of Caroline A BONCZYNSKI) might know .  Bye, talk later,  Mariyn and Bill Huddleston  from Venus Boncyznski>Caroline PosKocil>Anna Hurt-Poskocil line" mailto:bill1243@juno.com

"Do You Remember Life in the 1500's -- Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May and were still smelling pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell, so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the b.o. Baths equaled a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying,  "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water."

Big Brother TV/online show -- Finally ended Friday (Sept. 30th) after 90 days of eavesdropping on the lives of ten individuals put together inside a controlled environment like a mouse in a maze.  After weeks of banishments, it came down to three (3) left... Eddie, NY-$500,000 winner; Josh, the 2nd runner-up-$100,000; and Curtis, 3rd runner-up-$50,000.  During those 90 days, someone came up with this Big Brother/Wizard of Oz spoof using the ten characters from Big Brother in an online Movie, "The Wizard of Big Brother."  Have you seen all the Big Brother Movies?
