"Under all circumstances, the main goal should be to share the gifts
of love and trust between yourself and your horse (or any relationship).
If that love, and that trust is NOT there, then the result will either
be horrible, or at best mediocre." http://www.visi.com/~jbly/equine/methods/seven_games/game1.html
Oakie has done it again! Its okay if you want to smile, laugh &
ROTFLOL (Rolling On The Floor Laughing Out Loud)! BUT... This
will be a good learning experience for us that will enrich our lives
even more. Know what I mean? We NEVER stop learning! It isn't just your
gift of love & trust of your human relationships that you build
a satisfying relationship of respect. Horses need understanding, love,
and respect also. I am finding out there online and in books -- You
need to observe and learn their language for a better understanding
and gain their trust & respect.
One of my favorite horseman that I love reading about is Monty Roberts,
the Horse Whisperer. He teaches in his book, "Join
Up with Monty Roberts", - "...How to speak the language of horses.
Monty spent years studying wild Mustangs in the Nevada foothills. After
observing thousands of these horses, he began to recognize a pattern
to their behavior. He could predict how each would interact with each
other, which horse would become leader of the herd and exactly how the
leader would accept outside horses into the herd. What Monty was witnessing
was the language of the horse, something he now calls Equus." -
I even bought me another book on "Understanding of Horses."
I also went online using http://www.google.com
in search of "Understanding Horses." They say its all in the
communication, body language and being a confident lead horse for your
horses and gaining their trust and respect and learning their language
(Equus). Just plain Horse Sense! I've got my reading and observing
cut out for me, huh?
I told you about "Nugget" (the Palimino) and my Dad last weekend.
My dad demonstrated to Nugget that he was a confident lead horse. In
return Nugget rewarded Gene by following him around where ever he went.

I
promised you a peek of our newly acquired Mare (Cindy) &
her Foal (Okie Moon). Although the foal has a name right now,
I'm also looking for an "Indian" name for this black as night beauty

OTHER SENSE
As for the High School Graduations that are going on in our area
of the world... We should never stop learning and experiencing just
because we graduate from high school. I wish all of the NW Oklahoma
and other High School & College students graduating this time of
year to, "Keep an open mind to what is out there as you search for and
follow your dreams! There is a lot more knowledge to learn! NEVER Stop
learning!"
My high school graduation takes me back a few years. Thirty-four years
ago to be exact! When we are younger and graduating from high school
& college it was probably with the notion that all that learning,
teachers and books were behind us! BUT... The awakening has only begun
and never ends! I have found out that High School and College only lay
the foundation for the real learning experiences to follow.
As to the 3rd Mural in downtown Alva... Last week I mentioned
the murals going up around the downtown square of Alva, Oklahoma. The
local paper (Alva Review), May 14, 2000, front page article,
by Helen Barrett, had a story about the third mural (Castle Fire
mural) painted and brought to Alva by the Artist Stan Herd from
Protection, Kansas.
The third mural is to be displayed on the exterior walls of the Brunsteter
building (SE corner of 5th & Barnes) just east across the
street from the Bell Hotel. The mural of Northwestern Normal School's
Castle on the Hill burning, 1 March 1935, also includes a depiction
of Professor Wilbur Tanner filming the event on his home movie camera.
Artist Stan Herd painted the panels in his studio near Lawerence, Kansas.
He is in the process of adding the finishing touches here in Alva. The
paper mentioned that the plans are for the mural to be in place prior
to Alva's Nescatunga Arts Festival, June 3rd, 2000. I will get a picture
to share with you all later. Oakie's History of Northwestern
Normal School (Castle On the Hill).

o Here is the quote that someone sent me and that is engraved
over the door of the west entrance to the Carter County Courthouse in
Ardmore, Oklahoma. It is as follows: "He who does not prevent a crime
when he can, encourages it."
IS IT by Senega... OR IS IT... Seneca, Troades
(Troades is one of Seneca's Plays)?
Here is what I found concerning that quote, but it showed it was from
Lucius Annaeus Seneca, Troades. I searched http://www.google.com using
the quote in quotes and using "Seneca" and then "Troades". http://www.quotegeek.com/Literature/Seneca/"
