A Grandfather's Legacy

South Texas League Baseball - 1906

Senators Took One

Double Header at Creole Home City Divided with Visitors in Spectacular Contests.

Cermak's fine Work

Leftfielder of Austin Team Made the Spectators Wake Up and Shout By Brilliant Work in His Section of Groungs.

Lake Charles, La., July 23 (1906) -- In two pretty ball games this afternoon the Senators and the Creoles split even on the double header. The Creoles simply snowed the Senators under in the first game and had a good chance for the second. The score of the first game was 10 to 2. Austin making her two runs on a fight at the plate by Umpire Hayes. In that game Gremillion pitched fine ball and his support was fine. In the second game Sutor pitched a good game. Palm, the catcher who hails from Waco, showed up in wonderful style and it is safe to predict that if he keeps his present gait up he will rank with the best in the league. Cermak's fielding for the visitors was a feature also a one-handed catch by Colgrove of the locals.
