Second Game of the Series From Harlow's Hands yesterday. Harlow Misunderstood
Reid Sullivan at Third -- One Run Was Useless and He Did Right -- Mowry Foozled on Four Chances -- Infield Rough.
Houston...............0 || Austin ..............6 They Play Today: Austin at Houston; Galveston at Lake Charles; and San Antonio at Beaumont. Standing of the Clubs:
Gill selected McGill to guard the main kopje for him, and he was reached but six times and never more than one hit was made in a round. McGill spun out a good game on the slab and received stylish support from his help, McCulley making the only wobbles for his squad, and both were ____ gable -- a wild chunk that let Mowry go _____ after he had beat off a hit and a _________________ Edmondson's roller. Cermak walloped the first ball tossed to him to left and it fell into Sullivan's ball wrappers. Hutchcroft hit into Mowry and Joe hurled the pill against the wire netting, "Hutch" going to second. Gardner's roller was sidetracked to first and then Gill biffed a bingle to right and Hutchcroft legged it over the finish mark. Mowry opened the pot for Houston with a bounder to McCulley that bounded bad. Joe had the ball beat, but McCulley took a chance and made a wild heave, letting Joe annex second. Clayton sacrificed. Newman hit McCulley and perished at first; Mowry tried to tab on the play and was flagged at the gum on a close play. The second round settled the game as far as the result was concerned as four grinning senators looped the loop. Short opened the session with a welt to Mowry and Joe foozled on the biff. McCulley bingled. Mowry made a mess of Bradley's biff, the ball rolling into left field. Short tabbed and McCulley raced to third. McGill hit to Truesdale and Frank tried to catch McCulley and made a weird toss over Massing's thatch and Bradley trampled the pan also. Cermak bunted and Hutchcroft spanked a peach to center. Mowry foozled on Gardner's clout and McGill tied up at the wharf. McGill ended the round with a fly to Clayton. Austin tabbed again in the sixth. Gardner scratched a hit to short and went to second on an infield out and registered when Clayton muffed Newman's sling across the lot. Mowry's errors are excusable for the diamond around his position is very rough and a player is in danger of being injured every time a ball is hit at him. Harlow should have his ground keeper level it up at once. Score:
