Bradley Leads

With the Bludgeon -- Three Higher,
but Played Fewer Games

Houston Team Has Slumped

With the Hickory, but They Win Games Just the Same --
Massing Is Second and Griggs Third.
Austin Leads league.

Houston, June 10, 1906 -- Meier of Lake Charles leads the South Texas league with the swat stick with the bloated average of 395. Meier has only played seven or eight games and his percentage is liable to shrink very rapidly in the next few games. McGill and Jehl, both of Austin, come next, but like Meier they have only played a few games and their averages should be thrown out of the dope sheet.

Bradley, the shortstop of the Senators is the real leader of the league and his average is 325, which is going some with the bingle stick. Massing is second with an average of 304. Massing wasn't feeling well last week and he took a slump with the Bludgeon. Griggs of Lake Charles follows Massing with 303, but Jerry Kane of Beaumont is hot on his trail with a percentage of 298. Austin leads the team batting average with 228; Beaumont is second with 220 and Lake Charles is third with 218. Although Houston has been winning games with the greatest regularity the stick work of the team has slumped badly and we are in fifth place with an average of 207.
