Gene's Legacy

[J. A. McGill & W. J. McGill stationery]

21 Sep. 1939, Alva, Okla. --

Dear Bud,

Received your telegram in reference to business help previously discussed. I am happy to advise you that at this date, Sept. 27, 39; That the band is waisted, Elastic preferred is running along nicely down center groove and cotton is in high demand. I think that your stock is high, maybe a little above par, and would advise that you hold onto it until Christmas. However, I don't look for it to become steady. I also look for a sharp rise if you get home about Christmas.

Well - I finished my Silo, it's 100 feet long, 12 feet wide and 8 feet deep, will hold app. 125 tons. Started binding the feed yesterday and there sure is plenty of it. IT's been cold as the devil the last two days but still no rain.

Got a letter from Mom, she said that she was having a dandy time.

Dad got your telegram the other evening while I was at the Ranch. He opened it, said that he thought there might be something that I ought to know in it and thought he might have to bring it to the Ranch. he says it's something about business, couldn't make heads nor tails out of it. It's still worrying him. Got to get on back out there but thought I should, (being your broker) let you know how your investments in stocks and bonds were coming.
